AAAI 2011 Fall Symposium Open Government Knowledge: AI Opportunities and Challenges (OGK2011) (11/4-6/2011) This conference will be hosted during 4-6 November 2011 in Arlington, Virginia USA. It seeks papers on all aspects of publishing public government data as reusable knowledge on the Web. Websites like data.gov, research.gov and USASpending.gov aim to improve government transparency, increase accountability, and encourage public participation by publishing public government data online. Although industry and academia have used these for some intriguing applications, the data in its present form is hard for citizens to understand and use. Research and deployment challenges emerging from open government data practices include scalability, interoperability, provenance and quality, and citizen involvement. Important dates for submitting both long papers presenting research results and shorter papers describing late breaking work, outlining implemented systems, identifying new research challenges, or articulating a position are due by June 3; notifications will be sent by July 15; and the final camera-ready copy must be provided by September 9, 2011.

Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences (HICSS-45 ) Electronic Government Track (01/4-7/2012) The HICSS e-Government track has been a hotbed for groundbreaking studies and new ideas in this particular research domain. Many studies first presented here were developed further and then turned into publications at top journals. Ten minitracks cover the full spectrum of research avenues of electronic government including minitracks dedicated to emerging topics, open government, and social media and social networking, or most recently, insider threats. The HICSS e-Government Track has assumed an excellent reputation among e-Government scholars. Several times it has been ranked the academically most rigorous research conference on e-Government in the world.
